The Crooked I

Queen Sting Films, LLC is producing its first feature film, The Crooked I. The Crooked I is based on the true story of native Michigander, George Clark. Clark had been incarcerated for almost 20 years on death row, due to a false witness that was allowed to lie on the stand during his murder trial in 2002. An eye witness came forward 19 years later which led to Clark's exoneration and release in March 2020.

The script written and produced by Dana Lee, follows Clark's incarceration and how he kept faith that he would indeed be found out innocent and released. Clark endured humiliation, harassment not to mention false allegations and slander during his trial and incarceration. No matter how many time he protested his innocence, Clark could find no one who believed him. His faith in God is what Clark said helped him persevere.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Conviction Integrity Unit investigated the case for six months and was instrumental in the his release. Two years into his sentence, Clark lost his mother, although he was determined that she not find out about his conviction for as long as he could, when she was finally informed, she sunk into a state of depression that spiraled into her death. Clark also said he wants to help others and plans to advocate for people who are innocent. He wants to let them know they aren’t forgotten and to act as a voice for the people who don’t have one.

His advice: Never give up.

“I always just held on because I knew one day the truth would prevail,” Clark said. While incarcerated, Clark maintained his innocence, that was supported by his unwavering faith in a higher power. Clark has been quoted as saying "I have the best lawyer money cant buy,.... and that is God!"

The Crooked I in an insight into the arrest, conviction and emotional struggle of George Clark, as he kept faith and foresight into one day being exonerated.
